- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Beautiful but BUGGY! My wife and I visited here April 28th and it was very beautiful. Unfortunately the horse flies and mosquitos were so bad we couldn't get out of the car to enjoy it. I got out for a few seconds to snap some pictures, was immediately covered and couldn’t get back in the car fast enough. The state parks near us are known for horse flies during the summer but I’ve never seen mosquitos this bad anywhere. I don’t think regular bug spray would cut it here. Pants, long sleeves and a hat/head net are required during the warmer months if you want to get out of the car. Probably goes against a “nature preserve” but they should really spray for them.By Dave C, June 28, 2017
